Gareth:
Frasers hasn't been one of my top cafes and I haven't been there for a while as a result, however I went there this weekend with my partners family to celebrate a birthday. I was looking to see if the high praise from my fellow NZ Brunch'aholics was deserved.
There where six of us and the staff were happy to put together two tables for us. The venue is rather small and it was a bit of a tight squeeze which meant the waiters where learning over the table a fair bit. In the past when it's been busy it gets rather noisy and cramped, so I was quite glad that we got there quite early.
The staff seemed friendly enough and removed cups and plates relatively quickly.

I decided to order a double shot flat white, its started to creep up to being my favourite coffee. It arrived pretty quickly and was in the standard cup size. I have to say that it wasn't the best cup of coffee I have had, it looked and tasted a little burnt but other than that it wasn't to bad. I've certainly had worse. - Food

For breakfast I ordered their Eggs Benedict. For me the mark of a good eggs bene is how sick or more accurately how well you fell after eating one. This usually comes down to the richness of the hollandaise, and I certainly felt the richness in this one. The portion size was quite large which helps make you feel like you got value for money, Fraser's charge ~$18. It came with a fairly large English muffin; I'm not a huge fan of the traditional English muffin, I prefer something lighter and crisper like lightly toasted ciabatta. The bacon was quite nice, slightly on the salty side however well cooked and crispy in all the right places. The poached eggs where also done well, the whites where cooked and the yoke still runny. The hollandaise was fairly standard, as I mentioned earlier it was rather rich leaving me feel that ever typical eggs bene sickness afterwards.Eggs Benedict - Venue

There was plenty of parking in the local Mt Eden car park and plenty of off street parking. The cafe itself is rather small and could hold 20-30 people with a bit of squishing. The staff don't come to take your order so you need to order at the counter and pay when you order as well. The only real let down is the size which makes it feel cramped and noisy.

We tried Frasers for an early Sunday brunch (9am).
They weren't too busy which was nice as they are often packed and noisy, especially on weekends.
- Coffee: 6.5/10 Good
I ordered a long black and asked for it to be in a larger cup (flat white size) with extra hot water, only to find that's how they normally served it - no tulip cups here!
I thought the flavour and strength were nice but it could have been a bit hotter.
- Food: 5/10 Average
I ordered poached eggs on toast with bacon.
We didn't have to wait very long for our meals to arrive, but when they did they were plonked down in front of us by the rather grumpy waitress.
The toast (one white and one multi-grain) was rock solid; like it had been toasted and then left in a warmer for a long time.
The eggs were slightly over-cooked for my liking (I like my yolks runny), and I found the bacon to be very salty and over-cooked.

The corner location makes Frasers easily accessible and I found the large windows looking onto the street nice.
One person in our group was feeling cold and it was hard to get away from the breeze with all the doors and windows open and overhead fans on.
The tables are very packed in and I was constantly having to pull my (uncomfortable) chair in so staff could walk behind me which was slightly inconvenient.
