Adrienne:
We decided to go to Pages for Sunday brunch at around 11am.  I had enjoyed a previous brunch there about 6 months ago; the french toast with lemon curd was delicious.  Unfortunately this was no longer on the menu and the standard was not as good as it had been on the previous occasion.  The staff seemed to be different; change of management perhaps?

They were reasonably busy, but not packed and joined two tables together for us.
We got our coffees after a short wait but the food took quite a while to come - we had long finished our coffees by then.
  • Coffee: 4.5/10 Not great
I ordered a long black.  Coffee was rather weak and watery.
  • Food: 4/10 Not Great
    I ordered the Scrambled Bruchetta.
This came with sliced tomato, feta and basil leaves.  From reading the menu I thought this sounded like a unique take on scrambled eggs and imagined the bruchetta to be something like croutons.
Unfortunately I was very disappointed, it was nothing like I imagined and there was nothing scrambled about the bruchetta.  It was simply scrambled eggs on some cold sliced tomato with a few basil leaves and pieces of feta on toast.  The feta had a strong vinegar flavour that I didn't think went well with the eggs.
I may have been less disappointed if they called it what it was - scrambled eggs on toast.
  • Venue: 6/10
The cafe was comfortable.  Street parking, Kingsland - luck of the draw.
  • Service: 6/10
Staff were friendly and joined two tables together for us.

Brunch Time :)

Welcome,
We are a group of mates that meet up for breakfast/brunch/lunch far more often than we probably should, and it occurred to us that we should share our thoughts about the places we go.
Partly this is for our own record as we sometimes forget the places we enjoy, or why we didn't like some-place-or-other. But this is also for anyone that is interested in our opinions.

To kick things off, I am usually a double or triple shot mocha for my coffee. I like them strong, but I'd rather have chocolate than just sugar.
For breakfast I usually go with Eggs Benedict if it's a place I haven't been before. I like them best when served on muffins, but bread is OK. I really don't like them on potato. I'll sometimes get French Toast or something else instead.

Off the top of my head I'd probably rate Jones the Grocer in Newmarket as my favourite coffee, and Fraser's in Mt Eden as my favourite eggs benedict.
